Il Dr. Curtis è un former Director del Software Process Program del Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Continua a lavorare part-time con il SEI sullo sviluppo di uno Human Resource Maturity Model, è co-fondatore del Software Quality Institute all’Università del Texas, e lavora con molte organizzazioni per aumentare la loro software development capability. Prima del SEI è stato direttore di ricerca su Software Technology Program and Human Interface Laboratory a MCC, nel Programming Technology Center di ITT, e nella Space Division di GE.
Il Dr. Curtis ha scritto più di 100 pubblicazioni sul software engineering e management. E’ co-autore del libro: “The Capability Maturity Model for Software: Guidelines for improving the Software Process” Addison Wesley, e co-autore di un tutorial dell’IEEE: “Software Process Improvement”.
E’ stato ed è membro dell’editorial board di IEEE Transaction sul Software Engineering, IEEE Software, the Journal of Systems and Software, the Journal of Man-Machine Studies, Human-Computer Interaction e American Programmer.
